Forge Some Trinkets

Participants will forge a variety of intricate trinkets, including, but not limited to, a 1/4" J Hook, 3/8th J hook, 1/4" S hook, and a meticulously handcrafted heart. This exclusive class caters to individuals passionate about honing their skills in blade smithing and blacksmithing. In this private class, participants will not only engage in the hands-on forging process but will also receive guidance on applying cognitive thinking to enhance their craft. The curriculum encompasses a comprehensive exploration of traditional blacksmithing techniques, seamlessly blending historical methods with contemporary applications. The initial day focuses on forging diverse items to cultivate exceptional hammer control, incorporating techniques such as flattening, hot punching, hot cutting, twisting, tapering, scrolling, temperature control, quenching, and understanding grain structure. Additionally, participants will receive instruction on fundamental practices such as drilling, cutting, and setting. The subsequent day centers on Free Hand Forging, affording participants the opportunity to select materials from our meticulously organized scrap pile of high carbon steel and various sheet steels. Armed with our extensive array of tools and knowledge, participants are empowered to create their own blades or unique creations. Depending on complexity, additional days may be recommended to ensure the successful completion of the Free Hand Forging project.

Become a Blacksmith
This is our highest end class for those who are ready and set to go to become a full-time blacksmith and start there own shop! We welcome you into the trade with open arms, this class can go anywhere from 8-14 weeks long depending on how quickly you learn and progress.

What will I do/learn within this class?
In this comprehensive class you will delve into the rich traditions of blacksmithing, gain insights into woodworking, acquire fundamental hand tool proficiency, develop essential machining skills, and master the nuances of temperature control. Your journey will include a deep dive into metal grain structure, distinguishing various steels and even venturing into the art of Blade smithing. Safety protocols will be A paramount focus throughout, ensuring a secure and productive learning environment. Additionally, you’ll cultivate critical thinking skills to streamline the forging process, explore diverse grinding styles and techniques, and refine your ability to control hammer strikes through two distinct approaches. The curriculum also encompasses the artistry of hot stamping and the finesse of cold forging, providing a holistic and enriching Learning environment!

What extra material will I learn if I want to?
In this course you can learn how to start a blacksmith shop/a business and how to choose a niche to grow as well as building a outstanding network within your local community. (we also can give pointers on how to set up all online platforms for your business)

What about food?
Daily lunches will be supplied throughout the duration of the course, featuring offerings from select local eateries. Please Note that breakfast and dinner are not included. For participants coming from out of town and requiring lodging, arrangements can be made to include options for breakfast and dinner

Accommodation is not part of the package but can be arranged separately through a local hotel, which offers convenient transportation to and from the workshop.

When can I take this course?
Booking for this course requires a lead time of at least two months. Scheduling and material gathering are intricate processes that demand careful planning. Essential equipment, like the anvil, is not procured online and shipped; rather, it is meticulously selected for each student through a network of contacts and local sources. This approach ensures that materials are tailored to the unique needs of each participant, exemplifying our commitment to providing a personalized and high-quality learning experience.
Can I get a discount?
Discounts are commonly available for all of our products year around. The classes only have three times of the year when discounts are available, Black Friday, New Years Eve and Day, and the Fourth of July.
What should I wear?
Note: During This class we require certain type of footwear and clothing listed below
Footwear- Footwear cannot be open toed shoes nor something cloth it must be leather closed end shoes/boots that are meant to work in. NO CROCS (we will discuss it on the phone during the first initial phone call)
Slipovers- We recommend T shirts for it can get hot but with It HAS to be a 100% cotton or wool, NO POLYSTER!!!
Slacks-No shorts, leggings or open slacks will be allowed, it must be jeans or some time of work pants that you can move in.
What should I do to prepare for the class?
To best prepare for this class, it is recommended to conduct research on metal temperature variances. This will provide insight into the significant heat generated by the forge and hot steel during the course.
What do I need to be eligible take this course?
Enrollment in this course requires the ability to lift 20 pounds or more, unrestricted movement without upper body limitations, and the capacity to see and hear clearly. Ensuring safety is our top priority, active engagement with the instructor's guidance is essential.
Refund policy
Once the class is purchased, refunds will not be available. The gathering of materials and the allocation of the time slot commence immediately following the purchase, typically after the initial phone call has concluded. Thank you for your understanding.
